Dear Colleagues,
An overwhelming thank you to all the teachers who submitted their personal stories of their experiences with the music of Etienne. After almost 20 years of bringing the rockin’ and hip hoppin’ music of Etienne all over the globe, there are certainly lots of stories and each one is as incredible as the next.
So touched were we here at www.educorock.com, that we have not only picked our 3 winners for the T-shirt draw, but we have unanimously decided to mail EVERYONE who sent us an email or faxed story, a FREE prize pack that includes a CD, wristband and tattoo!
Here are our three draw winners and a snippet of their stories.
1. Diana Mancuso, St. Timothy School, Toronto, ON Canada
"We at St. Timothy School are big fans of Étienne's music. We have found that his songs have been 'instrumental' in the delivery of the Core French program. In particular, we incorporate the various verb songs to help students learn conjugations. Take, for example, the song ALLER. Our grade 7 students were among the first to learn it and even years later, they have returned for a visit to tell us how they still remember the refrain. C'est vraiment contagieux!"
2. Andrea Isabelli, McHenry Regional School District, Woodstock, IL USA
"I have a fun story for how Étienne's music has influenced my students. One year in my district I taught levels I, III and IV, and another teacher taught level II. She came to me one day with the following comment (not verbatim, but fairly close): "I was reviewing with the French II students, and they had retained most of what they had learned from French I. How? Every time I brought up a topic they would burst into song! They had a song for everything, and they remembered a lot of information because of it!" I have even had students who have graduated come back and tell me they still remember the songs we used to sing in class! Thank youfor providing this creative opportunity for students to learn! You help make learning fun!"
3. Nancy Bazilli, Mt. Pleasant School, Brantford, ON Canada
"For the past seven years, I have taken my students to Etienne concerts at the Sanderson Centre in Brantford. I could not believe how excited young teenagers could get about singing (and dancing) to French songs about grammatical structures and verbs! This year we had a dance routine from a group of grade 6 boys and girls. Even some grade 7 & 8 students, who are usually too "cool" to get excited about much were pumped about the concert. Etienne's songs add enthusiasm, fun and rhythm to my program and I really appreciate how easy it is to get my students excited about what they have to learn by using his songs. I have all of his French cds, dvds and videos and every year I add another song or two to the repertoire of my students. I also get a kick out of former students who come back and tell my how much they appreciate that I made them learn songs such as Avoir II because it helps them with grade 9 French. Merci beaucoup Etienne!"
Are we crazy to send a free prize package to EVERYONE who shared their stories? Of course not! Being Etienne and being a part of the Educorock team is a blessing that keeps giving over and over.
